At WalkInWardrobes.ie, we specialize in delivering bespoke wardrobe designs tailored to each client’s space and preferences. The Cork City penthouse project was no exception, with a focus on maximizing storage while enhancing the room’s elegance. Our design incorporated multiple key features that not only met but exceeded the client’s expectations, creating a wardrobe system that was as functional as it was stylish.
2-Door Sliding Wardrobe
The centerpiece of the wardrobe system was the 2-door sliding wardrobe, carefully designed to offer maximized storage while fitting seamlessly into the room. The sliding doors allowed us to take full advantage of the available space, particularly in a room where swinging doors would be impractical or space-consuming. This system enabled the client to easily access the contents of the wardrobe without worrying about door clearance, making it a practical and space-efficient choice.
The doors themselves were designed with a luxurious, high-quality mirror finish, giving the room a sense of openness and light. The full mirror doors not only added an element of sophistication but also served the practical purpose of reflecting light, helping to brighten the space. To enhance the modern look, the doors were finished in an Evoke Silver frame, which provided a sleek, metallic accent that complemented the modern interior of the penthouse.
Curved Open Shelving
One of the standout features of this wardrobe design was the curved open shelving located at the end of the wardrobe. The curve not only added visual interest but also created a sense of flow in the design. This shelving solution was tailored to hold books, accessories, or decorative pieces, giving the space an airy, open feel. Open shelving is a great way to store items that the client wanted easily accessible and showcased, providing both function and beauty.
The curved design was carefully planned to maintain a balance between functionality and style, ensuring that the storage area was efficient without looking too busy or overwhelming the room. The shelving was made of premium timber, matching the overall aesthetic of the space, and the gentle curve added a touch of elegance and sophistication to the design.
Storage Features: Shelving, Drawers, and Hanging Spaces
In addition to the sliding wardrobe doors and open shelving, the wardrobe system incorporated a mix of shelving, hanging spaces, and drawers. The shelving was designed for easy access to folded items, while the hanging spaces were carefully designed to accommodate longer garments such as coats and dresses. The addition of drawers ensured that smaller items, like scarves, accessories, or shoes, were neatly stored and easily accessible.
The wardrobe featured 4 large drawers, each crafted to offer substantial storage space without sacrificing style. The drawers were deep enough to store bulkier items, such as sweaters, jeans, and other clothing pieces that didn’t need to be hung. These drawers were installed with smooth, easy-to-use runners, allowing them to open and close effortlessly. This attention to detail made the wardrobe not just a place for clothes, but an organized storage hub for the client’s entire wardrobe collection.
Additionally, the inclusion of a reclining clothes lift made accessing high hanging clothes much easier. This added functionality allowed the client to retrieve and store garments on the upper shelves without needing a step stool or ladder, making it a practical choice for a luxury wardrobe.
LED Strip Lighting
The incorporation of LED strip lighting was a key element in this project. The energy-efficient lights were installed inside the wardrobe and along the open shelving, creating a subtle glow that enhanced the ambiance of the room. The LED strips not only illuminated the contents of the wardrobe but also highlighted the beautiful design of the curved shelving and the fine quality of the mirror finished doors. This added light feature made the space feel more luxurious and modern, while also making it easier to access items in the wardrobe, especially in the evening when natural light was minimal.
The LED strips were carefully selected for their low energy consumption (working off 12-volt transformers), making them an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution. The placement of the lights was designed to enhance the overall aesthetic of the space, providing soft, indirect lighting that didn’t overwhelm the room. The lights were strategically installed to bring out the beauty of the materials used, from the sleek Evoke Silver frame on the sliding doors to the rich texture of the timber shelving.
