Requirements / The Challenge:

This project, located in Limerick City, presented the opportunity to create a highly functional and stylish bespoke wardrobe tailored to the client’s specific needs. The client had a clear vision of maximizing the available space, utilizing every inch to its fullest potential, while ensuring the design was both practical and elegant.

Several key considerations shaped the requirements for this wardrobe:

  • Maximizing space: The room had a limited amount of floor space, so the wardrobe needed to be designed in a way that utilized the vertical space without making the room feel cramped.
  • Incorporating multiple types of storage: The client required a variety of storage solutions, including hanging space for clothing, shelving for accessories and shoes, and soft-closing drawers for smaller items like scarves, jewelry, and intimate wear.
  • Seamless functionality: The wardrobe had to be easy to use. The client wanted to ensure that access to high-hanging clothes was effortless, so a reclining clothes lift was essential for easy storage and retrieval of clothes from the upper levels.
  • Aesthetic appeal: The client emphasized a desire for an elegant and sophisticated finish, one that would integrate seamlessly with the rest of the home. The wardrobe design needed to reflect modern trends while also adding a timeless quality to the space.
  • Specific design features: The client was particularly interested in incorporating mirror elements into the wardrobe’s design, as well as adding subtle decorative touches to elevate the wardrobe’s aesthetic appeal.

Our Solution / Project Description:

At WalkInWardrobes.ie, our goal is to create bespoke storage solutions that are both functional and beautiful, and this 4-door sliding wardrobe project in Limerick City was no exception. Our approach was to design a wall-to-wall wardrobe that made the most of the room’s layout, blending form and function seamlessly.

4-Door Wall-to-Wall Sliding Wardrobe

The wardrobe was designed to be wall-to-wall, ensuring that every inch of available space was maximized. The decision to go with a 4-door sliding wardrobe allowed us to provide ample storage without compromising the flow or accessibility of the room. Sliding doors are ideal for spaces where floor area is limited, as they don’t require extra clearance to open. This space-saving design is both practical and stylish, ensuring the wardrobe would not overwhelm the room while offering substantial storage.

The four sliding doors of the wardrobe were crafted from grey metal, glass, and mirror materials, chosen to provide a sleek and modern aesthetic while enhancing the room’s sense of openness. The inclusion of mirror panels on the doors created an illusion of space, reflecting light and making the room feel larger and more airy. The grey metal finish contributed to a sophisticated, contemporary look, adding a sleek contrast to the lighter interior finishes.

To add an element of sophistication, we incorporated a decorative strip across the doors. This subtle yet impactful feature created a visual break in the mirror panels, introducing a touch of elegance that balanced the clean lines of the design with a more refined aesthetic. The decorative strip not only elevated the look but also created a focal point, enhancing the wardrobe’s overall appeal and tying it in with other design elements in the room.

Storage Solutions

The wardrobe was designed to accommodate a wide variety of storage needs, ensuring that the client had an organized and easily accessible space for all of their items.

  • Hanging Space: We included ample hanging space for both long and short garments. Adjustable hanging rods allow for flexibility in storing items like dresses, coats, shirts, and jackets, maximizing the use of vertical space. The vertical storage allows for easy access to all clothing items, from everyday wear to more formal attire, without the need for excessive searching.

  • Shelving: The wardrobe also included adjustable shelves for shoes, accessories, and folded garments. Shelving can be customized based on the client’s needs, making it easier to organize and store items in an efficient and visually appealing manner. Shoes, bags, and other accessories can be neatly arranged on the shelves, while also keeping them visible and easy to access.

  • Soft-Closing Drawers: Soft-closing drawers are an essential feature in modern wardrobe design, and we included four spacious drawers in this project. The drawers are designed to hold smaller items, such as scarves, belts, or even makeup. The soft-close mechanism ensures that the drawers glide shut quietly and gently, enhancing the wardrobe’s functionality and contributing to its luxurious feel.

  • Reclining Clothes Lift: To make accessing high-hanging garments easier, we included a reclining clothes lift. This feature allows the client to easily retrieve clothes stored at the top of the wardrobe without having to stretch or use a ladder. The lift can be pulled down with ease, bringing high-hanging clothes into view, and then returned to the top with a simple push. This feature not only adds convenience but also elevates the overall user experience of the wardrobe.

Finishes and Frame

The doors of the wardrobe were finished in Evoke Silver frames, which were carefully chosen to complement the grey metal, glass, and mirror finishes of the doors. The Evoke Silver frame added a modern yet timeless touch to the wardrobe, providing a sleek edge to the doors while maintaining the sophisticated look that the client desired.

The interior of the wardrobe was finished in white, creating a clean and bright aesthetic inside. The light interior allows for better visibility of the contents and contrasts beautifully with the darker frame and mirror panels. The light grey surround was carefully chosen to provide a subtle complement to the white interior, blending well with the overall color scheme of the room while maintaining a polished and sophisticated look.

Space Maximization

One of the key challenges of the project was to make the most of the available space without creating a feeling of clutter. By using a wall-to-wall design, the wardrobe became a statement piece in the room without overwhelming it. The sliding doors helped maintain an open, uncluttered feel, while the mirrored surfaces enhanced the feeling of space. This wardrobe was designed to be both functional and visually striking, fitting seamlessly into the room while offering an abundance of storage options.

Wood Used

The materials chosen for this wardrobe were selected not only for their durability but also for their aesthetic appeal.

White Interior

The interior of the wardrobe was finished in white, creating a bright and airy atmosphere inside. White is a versatile color that complements a wide range of design styles, and it helped create a clean backdrop for the client’s clothing and accessories. The light, neutral color of the interior also enhanced the overall spacious feel of the wardrobe, ensuring that the contents were easily visible and organized.

Light Grey Surround

The light grey surround framing the wardrobe’s interior and doors was carefully chosen to blend harmoniously with the rest of the room’s decor. The subtle grey finish added depth and interest to the design without competing with the other elements in the room. The light grey surround provided a beautiful contrast to the white interior, creating a cohesive and sophisticated aesthetic.
