Requirements / The Challenge:

This project in Adare, County Limerick, presented an exciting yet challenging opportunity to design a bespoke wardrobe that seamlessly blended with the existing elements of the room. Our client wanted the interior and timber surround of their new wardrobe to match perfectly with the room’s existing herringbone timber flooring, a beautiful feature that served as a key design element in the space.

The challenge was not just about creating a wardrobe that met the client’s functional needs but also ensuring that it complemented the rich texture and warmth of the herringbone flooring, which featured unique wood grain patterns and a classic, sophisticated finish. Our client wanted a wardrobe that would blend harmoniously with the floor while still standing as a statement piece in the room.

The interior of the wardrobe had to maintain the same quality and feel as the flooring, with an added focus on maximizing storage space without compromising the room’s overall aesthetics. At the same time, the wardrobe needed to feature sleek and functional design elements, ensuring that it could store clothing, accessories, and other items in an organized and accessible manner.

Additionally, the client wanted a full-length mirror incorporated into the wardrobe doors to allow for easy outfit checks, which would contribute both to the practicality and the visual appeal of the wardrobe. The solution also had to be functional for everyday use, with ample hanging, shelving, and drawer space.

With these requirements in mind, the goal was to create a wardrobe that would not only blend in seamlessly with the existing room features but also enhance the overall design, creating a cohesive and functional storage solution.

Our Solution / Project Description:

At WalkInWardrobes.ie, we thrive on creating bespoke storage solutions that perfectly match the unique needs and aesthetic visions of our clients. For this project in Adare, our approach was carefully crafted to ensure that the wardrobe would harmonize with the existing interior while offering both style and practicality.

Designing for Functionality and Elegance

To meet the client’s requirements, we designed a wardrobe with a layout that maximized storage while maintaining a sleek, contemporary appearance. The wardrobe featured hanging space, shelving, drawers, and top boxes, providing ample room for all the client’s clothing and accessories. The hanging space was designed to accommodate both long and short garments, with adjustable shelves to allow for flexibility in storing different items. The four drawers were built for easy access to smaller items, such as scarves, jewelry, or accessories, while the top boxes offered additional hidden storage for seasonal or infrequently used items.

The wardrobe was designed to have two sliding doors, which offered a space-saving solution, perfect for a room where space might be limited. Sliding doors are ideal for smaller rooms because they don’t require extra space to open, and they can also give the wardrobe a sleek, modern look. To add an element of sophistication and luxury, we chose full mirror doors. The mirrors not only allowed for functional outfit checks but also contributed to the room’s sense of spaciousness, reflecting light and visually expanding the space.

The wardrobe doors were finished in Evoke champagne frame, adding a touch of refined elegance. The champagne frame gave the wardrobe a soft, warm glow that contrasted beautifully with the deeper tones of the herringbone timber flooring. The combination of the full mirror doors and the champagne frame created a stunning visual effect that tied in with the existing room décor while adding a touch of luxury to the overall design.

Harmonizing with the Herringbone Flooring

The most crucial aspect of the design was ensuring that the wardrobe’s interior and timber surround would complement the room’s herringbone timber flooring. The intricate pattern of the flooring was both beautiful and bold, and we knew it would set the tone for the overall design. To ensure harmony between the wardrobe and the flooring, we used a timber finish for the surround and interior that was similar in color and texture to the wood flooring.

We opted for Glanmire light wood for the wardrobe’s interior and surround. This light wood finish mimicked the natural tones of the herringbone flooring, with soft grains and a subtle texture that echoed the same classic, timeless appeal. The Glanmire light wood provided an excellent balance between warmth and lightness, allowing the wardrobe to seamlessly blend into the room while maintaining its own distinct presence. This thoughtful selection ensured that the wardrobe not only complemented the flooring but also added a sense of refinement and cohesion to the space.

Efficient Use of Space

The layout of the wardrobe was designed to optimize the use of the available space. The wardrobe’s two sliding doors were chosen to ensure that the design would fit perfectly within the confines of the room without overcrowding the space. Inside the wardrobe, the hanging spaces, drawers, and shelves were meticulously planned to provide maximum storage capacity while still maintaining a streamlined, uncluttered look.

The four drawers were specifically designed to be deep and spacious, offering ample room for storing accessories, shoes, or other small items. The shelving was designed to accommodate everything from folded clothes to accessories, while the top boxes provided a hidden storage solution for out-of-season items or items that the client did not need to access regularly. Each storage compartment was positioned for easy access, ensuring that the wardrobe would be as functional as it was stylish.

Wood Used

For this project, we chose materials that would harmonize with the room’s existing design elements, while ensuring the wardrobe was both beautiful and durable.

Glanmire Light Wood Interior and Surround

We selected Glanmire light wood for the wardrobe’s interior and surrounding trim. This light, neutral wood was chosen for its ability to blend seamlessly with the rich tones of the herringbone flooring, while still standing out enough to create a distinctive and elegant aesthetic. The natural grains in the wood added texture and depth to the wardrobe, enhancing its visual appeal while maintaining a timeless and classic style.

The Glanmire light wood finish was applied to both the internal shelving and the surrounding trim of the wardrobe, ensuring consistency and cohesion throughout the design. The light wood was chosen not only for its beauty but also for its durability, ensuring that the wardrobe would last for years while maintaining its stunning appearance.

Evoke Champagne Frame

The wardrobe doors were framed with the Evoke champagne frame, which provided a beautiful contrast to the natural wood finishes. The champagne hue of the frame added a warm, sophisticated glow that complemented both the light wood interior and the full-length mirrors. The combination of the light wood interior and the Evoke champagne frame resulted in a wardrobe that was not only functional but also a stunning feature in the room.
