Requirements / The Challenge:

The challenge presented by this project in Kinsale, Co. Cork, was both a space optimization puzzle and an opportunity for creative design. Our clients had a spare bedroom that they wished to convert into a functional, luxurious walk-in wardrobe. The room was already in a central location, but its layout and current structure made it a challenge to utilize effectively. The biggest hurdle we faced was the existing doorway placement. To make the transformation work, we needed to close off the original door halfway and break into the room from their master bedroom, creating a seamless transition between the two spaces.

The project involved a combination of construction work, requiring the services of our highly skilled professional team, and the creation of a customized wardrobe design that would maximize the room’s space and provide ample storage for the clients’ wardrobe needs. The aim was to not only provide practical storage solutions but also to create a stylish and luxurious space that would reflect the clients’ aesthetic preferences.

We had to work with the existing structure and floor plan to ensure that the wardrobe would be spacious, practical, and beautifully designed, while also blending seamlessly into the overall home design. Our clients also requested two sliding doors to serve as an elegant finishing touch to the wardrobe, which needed to both function smoothly and add to the aesthetic of the room.

Our Solution / Project Description:

At WalkInWardrobes.ie, we specialize in transforming underutilized spaces into luxurious custom wardrobes that exceed our clients’ expectations. This project in Kinsale was no exception. We were tasked with creating a high-end walk-in wardrobe in a spare bedroom by reconfiguring the existing layout to maximize both the functionality and visual appeal of the room.

To start, we had to close up the original doorway and then carefully design a new entry point into the wardrobe from the master bedroom. This would allow for an unobstructed, seamless transition between the two rooms. Our team of experts took great care in the building works to ensure that the new entry point would feel natural, with no disruption to the flow of the room. The highly skilled team ensured that the construction was flawless, with a strong emphasis on preserving the overall design integrity of the space.

The wardrobe itself was designed with one primary goal in mind: maximize storage without sacrificing style. We took full advantage of the available space by incorporating a wide range of storage solutions. The wardrobe was designed with extensive shelving to accommodate a variety of items, including shoes, handbags, and accessories. Hanging space was incorporated for both long and short garments, providing ample room for everything from dresses to coats. We also integrated multiple drawers to keep smaller items neatly organized and easily accessible.

A dedicated jewelry drawer was added as a luxurious touch to the design. This was a thoughtful feature that not only adds a functional space for the client’s jewelry collection but also elevates the overall feel of the wardrobe, providing a little extra luxury and practicality. We even designed a sit-down area within the wardrobe, making it easy for the client to sit comfortably while selecting shoes or accessories. This corner of the wardrobe was carefully planned to provide a functional yet elegant space where the client could take a moment to relax while preparing for the day.

The overall design was modern and luxurious, in line with the client’s preferences. The use of two sliding doors at the entrance of the wardrobe added a sleek and stylish element to the design. The doors were finished with pearl white glass and mirror, creating a light, airy feel that helped make the room feel larger and brighter. The mirror finish not only added a visual dimension to the space but also served a practical purpose, reflecting light and brightening the room.

To further elevate the design, we incorporated the Evoke Champagne frame around the sliding doors. The Evoke Champagne frame was chosen for its elegant and subtle color, which complemented the pearl white glass and mirror finish. The frame provided the perfect finishing touch, creating a polished and sophisticated look. The overall combination of glass and mirror with the champagne frame created a striking contrast against the cream interior, bringing an extra layer of luxury to the space.

The interior of the wardrobe was finished in cream, which created a warm, inviting atmosphere. The soft cream tone also helped to reflect the light from the sliding doors, making the space feel even more open and airy. The cream interior was designed with both style and practicality in mind. The shelves, drawers, and hanging space were all built with durability in mind, ensuring that the wardrobe would stand the test of time.

We also made sure that the layout was easy to navigate, with the shelves and hanging space arranged to create a smooth flow. The jewelry drawer, sit-down area, and storage units were all positioned with care to ensure maximum accessibility and ease of use. The sliding doors were perfectly aligned to glide effortlessly, ensuring that they functioned smoothly while providing a stunning visual impact.

The building works required for the reconfiguration of the space were seamlessly executed. Our team’s attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship were evident throughout the project. From the revised entry point to the finishing touches, every aspect of the design and construction was carried out with precision and care, ensuring that the final result was exactly what our clients had envisioned.

Wood Used

For this project, we used a mix of materials to achieve the perfect balance of functionality and luxury. The interior of the wardrobe was finished in cream laminate, which provided a soft, warm tone that complemented the elegant exterior finishes. The cream laminate is not only aesthetically pleasing but also durable, making it perfect for a high-traffic area like a wardrobe. The sliding doors were finished with pearl white glass and mirror, which added sophistication and visual interest to the design. The mirror finish reflected light beautifully, making the space feel brighter and more expansive, while the pearl white glass added a sleek, modern touch. The Evoke Champagne frame was used around the sliding doors to tie the entire design together. The soft, warm tone of the champagne frame contrasted beautifully with the white glass and cream interior, creating a luxurious, high-end look. The frame also added strength and structure to the doors, ensuring they would glide effortlessly while providing a secure enclosure for the wardrobe.
