Requirements / The Challenge:

This project presented a unique set of challenges due to the client’s desire for a distinctive wardrobe solution in a relatively compact space. The client was dealing with limited space and required a clever way to fit both a wardrobe and a functional walkway that would lead directly into an ensuite bathroom. The goal was to create a design that was not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and well-integrated with the overall layout of the room and the home.

The space was small, and the challenge was to create a seamless transition from the wardrobe area to the ensuite bathroom without sacrificing storage capacity or the visual appeal of the room. The client also wanted the design to be unique—something different from a standard wardrobe—and to offer ample storage options, including both hanging space and shelving, while incorporating a contemporary aesthetic that would match the high standards of the rest of the home.

In addition to these spatial constraints, the client was interested in modern touches, including advanced lighting solutions and the use of premium materials that would elevate the overall look and feel of the space. Another key consideration was making sure the wardrobe was practical and easy to use, providing a perfect balance between design and functionality.

Our Solution / Project Description:

At WalkInWardrobes.ie, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide customized solutions that transform even the most challenging spaces into functional masterpieces. This project was a perfect example of how innovative thinking and attention to detail can result in a wardrobe design that not only meets but exceeds client expectations.

We began by addressing the primary challenge: how to incorporate both a wardrobe and a walkway that would lead to the ensuite bathroom. Rather than placing the wardrobe on a separate wall, we decided to integrate the wardrobe design directly along the same wall as the ensuite. This allowed us to create a natural flow between the spaces and use the available wall length efficiently. The wardrobe was built with a dedicated pathway through it, ensuring that the client could easily access the ensuite without any disruption to the wardrobe’s functionality.

To maximize the space and provide a well-rounded storage solution, the wardrobe was designed with a mix of hanging space, shelving, and drawers. This combination ensured that the client had ample space for both long-hanging items like coats and dresses, as well as smaller items that required shelving and drawers for organization. We placed the hanging sections in strategic positions to ensure that everything could be accessed easily, while the drawers were built for smooth operation, providing storage for items like shoes, accessories, and smaller garments.

One of the standout features of the wardrobe design was the inclusion of rechargeable LED lights. These lights not only enhanced the visual appeal of the wardrobe but also made it much easier for the client to find and access items, even in low light. The lights were designed with USB charging capability, allowing the client to recharge them easily without having to rely on traditional power outlets. This added a modern touch to the wardrobe design, ensuring that it was both functional and tech-savvy. The integration of LED lighting also added an extra layer of sophistication to the wardrobe, providing a soft and ambient glow that could be adjusted to suit different moods or needs.

The doors of the wardrobe were finished in grey classic glass, which was selected for its sleek and modern appearance. The grey glass provides a soft contrast against the white interior and helps to balance the overall design, creating a contemporary yet timeless look. To further enhance the visual interest, we added horizontal decorative elements to the top and bottom of the doors. These subtle details served to elevate the overall design, giving the wardrobe a polished, high-end appearance. The Evoke White frame was used around the sliding doors to tie the design together, offering a clean and elegant border that complements the glass doors and adds a touch of luxury.

By using the same color scheme and design elements throughout the wardrobe, we were able to create a seamless, cohesive look that not only enhanced the space but also tied in beautifully with the rest of the home. The white interior and white timber surround further emphasized the clean, minimalist design and helped make the room feel larger and brighter.

Another key consideration in this project was the durability and quality of the materials used. We selected premium finishes to ensure that the wardrobe would stand the test of time, even in a high-traffic area like the walkway to the ensuite. The grey classic glass doors are not only visually stunning but also highly durable, ensuring that the wardrobe remains both functional and beautiful for years to come.

In terms of the overall layout, we took extra care to design the wardrobe in a way that optimized accessibility. The mix of hanging, shelving, and drawer space ensures that every item has a designated place, making it easy for the client to maintain an organized wardrobe. The rechargeable LED lights also play a crucial role in enhancing usability, providing practical lighting when needed and helping to reduce clutter.

Finally, the walkway to the ensuite was created with a sense of openness and accessibility, ensuring that the space didn’t feel cramped or awkward. The design of the wardrobe ensured that there was enough space for the client to move comfortably through the wardrobe and into the ensuite bathroom without feeling restricted. By using the same materials and color scheme throughout the wardrobe and the walkway, we were able to create a fluid transition from one space to another, making the entire area feel connected and cohesive.

Wood Used

For this wardrobe project, we selected a combination of materials that balanced both style and durability. The interior of the wardrobe was finished in high-quality white laminate, which not only provides a clean, modern aesthetic but also offers durability and ease of maintenance. The white finish reflects light, creating a brighter and more open feel in the room, which was particularly important given the compact space. The surrounding frame of the sliding doors was crafted from white timber, adding an extra layer of elegance and refinement to the overall design. The choice of white timber complements the grey classic glass doors and ensures that the wardrobe maintains a cohesive and sophisticated look. The timber frame provides both strength and support for the sliding doors, ensuring that the wardrobe is built to last.
