To address the challenges posed by the pitched roof and valley, we worked closely with the client to create a bespoke wardrobe solution that maximized every inch of the available space while maintaining a stylish, contemporary look. The final design utilized hinged doors, as they offered a practical and accessible solution in this case, given the room’s layout and the client’s preference for a more traditional design style.
We made the most of the available wall space, ensuring that every section of the wardrobe served a functional purpose. The design incorporated a well-thought-out combination of hanging rails, shelving, and drawers, tailored to meet the client’s needs. This included custom shelves above the hanging rails to maximize vertical space, providing ample room for folded clothes, accessories, and other items. Beneath the hanging rails, we integrated deep drawers that provided convenient storage for smaller items such as scarves, shoes, and bags.
To enhance the functionality further, we installed dedicated shoe racks within the wardrobe. These racks were built into the design, making use of the lower sections of the wardrobe to ensure shoes were easily accessible, neatly stored, and out of sight.
One of the most important elements of the wardrobe was the use of Blumotion soft-close pistons for the hinged doors. These pistons ensure that the doors open and close smoothly, without slamming, creating a sense of luxury and quiet functionality. The soft-close mechanism enhances the user experience, providing an effortless and seamless operation every time the wardrobe is used.
The design itself was modern yet complementary to the traditional feel of the cottage. The wardrobe doors were crafted with a clean, minimalist aesthetic, with dust grey finishes that provided a subtle contrast against the room’s neutral tones. This color choice was carefully selected to blend harmoniously with the rest of the room, while still offering a striking feature that wouldn’t overwhelm the space. The interior of the wardrobe was finished in light grey, which helped to brighten up the space and made the wardrobe feel larger and more open.
The angled ceiling presented its own set of challenges, but our expert team was able to craft custom sections of the wardrobe that followed the pitch of the roof, ensuring that there were no gaps or wasted space. We made sure that each part of the wardrobe fit seamlessly into the sloped ceiling, taking full advantage of the available height and ensuring that the wardrobe still offered plenty of storage despite the awkward angles.
We also included custom-fitted shelving units, designed to accommodate the specific needs of the client. These shelves were tailored to hold everything from folded clothes to decorative items, providing a versatile and organized solution to the storage challenges in the dormer room.
In addition to the practical considerations, we focused on ensuring that the overall design was not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The clean lines of the wardrobe and the subtle color palette contributed to the peaceful, calm atmosphere of the room, while the use of premium materials guaranteed that the wardrobe would remain durable and stylish for years to come.
Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with the client to ensure that the design stayed true to their vision, and we were committed to ensuring that every detail was executed with precision. The final result was a wardrobe that not only met the practical storage needs of the client but also enhanced the overall beauty of their newly renovated cottage.
