For this project, we designed a bespoke solution that balanced style, functionality, and the need to work within the room’s uneven features. The room’s layout and the client’s requirements led us to opt for a combination of hinged and sliding wardrobe doors to achieve the most practical and elegant result.
To start, we placed a wardrobe on each side of the window, allowing each client to have their own dedicated space while still creating a balanced look. This placement allowed the wardrobes to fit neatly along the walls, taking advantage of the available floor space without cluttering the room. The wardrobes were positioned symmetrically on either side of the window, creating a sense of harmony while ensuring that neither wardrobe would overwhelm the space or block natural light from the window.
On one side of the room, we created a tallboy unit with six drawers placed adjacent to the sliding wardrobe. This tallboy offered additional storage for items such as accessories, shoes, or folded garments, further enhancing the functionality of the space. The combination of a hinged wardrobe and a sliding wardrobe, paired with the tallboy, allowed us to use every inch of the room effectively.
The wardrobe interiors were designed with a mix of shelving and hanging space, to ensure maximum storage capacity while maintaining accessibility and order. The shelving was designed to accommodate folded items like sweaters, hats, or shoes, while the hanging areas were carefully planned to store garments such as dresses, coats, and shirts. The mix of open shelves and enclosed hanging space helped to balance the wardrobe’s functionality, creating an organized and versatile storage system.
Given the uneven floors and ceilings, we used precision measurements and custom carpentry to create a seamless fit for both the hinged and sliding doors. The sliding wardrobe was designed with our signature Evoke Champagne frame, which added a modern touch of luxury to the overall look. The Evoke Champagne frame has a sophisticated, muted gold hue that contrasts beautifully with the ivory timber used for the doors, creating an elegant and timeless effect.
The ivory timber finish used for both the doors and the interior of the wardrobe helped bring warmth to the design while maintaining a light and airy feel. Ivory is an ideal choice for this type of project as it offers a classic, neutral tone that complements a wide range of room colors and styles. The subtle elegance of the ivory finish also helped balance the natural light coming from the window, brightening the space without overpowering it.
In terms of design, we paid special attention to how the wardrobes integrated with the overall feel of the room. The wardrobes were built to the precise dimensions of the room, ensuring that there were no awkward gaps or unused areas. The hinged wardrobe doors were built with a smooth, soft-closing mechanism to ensure they functioned flawlessly even with the challenging ceiling angles. The sliding wardrobe, on the other hand, offered a sleek and space-saving solution that didn’t require additional clearance for the doors to open, making it perfect for the limited space near the window.
This combination of wardrobe types – hinged and sliding – allowed us to offer a flexible storage solution. For example, the sliding doors saved space in the room, making it easier to access the wardrobe without worrying about swinging doors in the way. Meanwhile, the hinged wardrobe doors on the other side of the room provided easier access to items that were stored at the front of the wardrobe, ensuring practicality without sacrificing style. The tallboy unit added further convenience by providing a dedicated space for smaller items, enhancing the overall organization of the room.
The client was particularly pleased with how the design respected the natural light from the window while offering them the maximum storage possible. The wardrobes enhanced the space without feeling intrusive, and the elegant design added a touch of sophistication to their bedroom. The mix of hinged and sliding doors, along with the beautiful ivory and Evoke Champagne finishes, helped create a refined yet functional wardrobe system that matched the client’s expectations perfectly.
