Requirements / The Challenge:

This project was designed for a couple who wanted to maximize the space in their bedroom with a functional and stylish wardrobe. The challenge was to create a bespoke “his and hers” sliding wardrobe that could accommodate both individuals’ storage needs while ensuring the design complemented the modern, clean aesthetic of the room. The client needed a solution that offered ample storage space without compromising on style or functionality.

The space available was somewhat limited due to the room’s shape and layout, requiring the design to be highly tailored to the room’s dimensions. Furthermore, the wardrobe had to be a feature in the room, providing a chic, streamlined look while being practical for everyday use. The couple’s needs were diverse: one side of the wardrobe was to accommodate men’s clothing with hanging space for suits, while the other required more shelving and drawer storage for women’s clothes, accessories, and shoes. The sliding mechanism was essential to ensure that the wardrobe did not overpower the room, as traditional hinged doors would have required more space to open.

The challenge was also to ensure that the wardrobe could withstand years of use while maintaining a fresh and luxurious feel, making it both a functional asset and a striking design feature of the room.

Our Solution / Project Description:

To meet the unique needs of our client, we developed a custom sliding wardrobe solution that harmonized with both the design aspirations and functional requirements. We knew the wardrobe needed to be both a statement piece and a highly practical storage system, so we focused on maximizing the available space while keeping the design sleek and modern.

The wardrobe was designed as a 2-door sliding model with a mirrored finish to add both light and depth to the room. Mirrors are a great solution for smaller or darker rooms, as they create the illusion of a larger space while reflecting natural light. The sliding mechanism was specifically chosen to ensure that the wardrobe doors didn’t interfere with the room layout, making them easy to use without taking up additional space when opened.

To separate the storage areas and provide functionality for both clients, we implemented a bespoke internal design. One section was outfitted with a mix of hanging rails and a dedicated section for suits, shirts, and coats—an area specifically for “his” wardrobe needs. The other side was optimized for “hers,” with shelves for folded clothes and a variety of drawers for jewelry, accessories, and other small items. We also integrated shoe racks and additional shelf space for handbags, ensuring that everything had a designated place for maximum organization.

For the doors, we used our signature Evoke Silver Frame that offers a refined, contemporary edge. The full-length mirrors added sophistication and served as a practical tool for the client to try on clothes. We selected a mix of high-quality materials to match the client’s desired aesthetic, ensuring the wardrobe would fit seamlessly into the overall room design.

The wardrobe’s structure was designed to be both solid and elegant. We took special care with the installation, ensuring the sliding doors moved effortlessly and quietly, while the interior design provided the perfect balance of hanging, drawer, and shelf space.

Wood Used

To maintain the warmth and luxury that the client desired, we used a blend of Lissa Oak for both the interior shelving and the exterior surround. Lissa Oak is an exquisite wood choice known for its fine grain and light, natural tones. This wood brings an elegant and understated quality to the wardrobe, elevating the room’s overall aesthetic while ensuring a timeless look. The oak used in this project was carefully chosen not only for its beauty but also for its durability. It’s a wood that can withstand everyday wear while maintaining its appeal over time. The combination of oak and the Evoke Silver Frame on the doors created a sophisticated contrast, balancing both modern and classic design elements. The natural wood interior was the perfect backdrop for neatly organizing the wardrobe’s contents, whether it be clothing or accessories, creating a seamless flow between function and style.
