Our team at WalkInWardrobes.ie was excited to take on this project because it allowed us to leverage our expertise in custom design and storage solutions. The combination of sloped ceilings and limited space presented a unique challenge, but we were confident that a bespoke wardrobe could be created that would enhance the room’s functionality and beauty.
Custom Wall-to-Wall Sliding Doors
The first step in the solution was to address the wardrobe’s aesthetic appeal. To make the most of the available space while maintaining a sleek, modern look, we decided on a 2-door sliding wardrobe. Sliding doors are an excellent choice in rooms with limited space, as they do not require extra clearance for opening, thereby maximizing the storage area without encroaching on the floor plan.
The sliding doors were finished in Evoke Champagne framing, a chic, contemporary finish that added sophistication to the design without feeling too heavy or intrusive. The champagne frame contrasted beautifully with the surrounding light color scheme, making the wardrobe both a functional and stylish addition to the room. The Evoke system ensures smooth operation, making it effortless for the client to access their belongings without any hassle.
By using sliding doors, we were able to create a wardrobe system that offered a clean, minimalist design without compromising on storage space. The doors provided a sleek, uninterrupted look that complemented the modern style of the room.
Maximizing the Angled Unit and Clever Storage Solutions
The dormer’s angled ceilings presented a specific design challenge, but we embraced this opportunity to create a truly custom solution. One of the standout features of the wardrobe design was the angled unit, which was specifically tailored to make the most of the available space along the sloped wall.
In the angled section of the wardrobe, we installed open shelving for easy access to shoes, bags, and other accessories. This open shelving allowed the client to store items they frequently use, such as handbags or shoes, in a way that kept them within easy reach but still neatly organized. By opening up this unit, we not only maximized the space but also kept the design visually open and airy, preventing the wardrobe from feeling too enclosed or heavy in such a compact room.
To ensure that the wardrobe could accommodate the client’s various storage needs, we included drawers in the lower portion of the angled unit. The drawers were designed to store smaller items, such as scarves, hats, or personal accessories, ensuring that every inch of available space was utilized. The sleek drawer fronts were finished to match the wardrobe’s overall design, maintaining the clean, streamlined look.
The combination of hanging space, open shelving, and drawers provided a versatile and accessible storage solution that could accommodate a variety of clothing items, accessories, and personal belongings. The sliding doors, which concealed the entire wardrobe, ensured that the room remained neat and tidy while still allowing easy access to everything inside.
A Seamless Integration with the Room’s Design
One of the most important aspects of this project was ensuring that the wardrobe complemented the rest of the room’s design. We carefully selected materials that would integrate with the bedroom’s overall aesthetic, creating a sense of flow and harmony between the wardrobe and the rest of the room.
To maintain the minimalist look that the client wanted, we opted for a white interior for the wardrobe. The white timber not only enhanced the sense of lightness in the room but also provided a clean backdrop for the storage elements, making the space feel larger and more open. The simplicity of the white finish also allowed the wardrobe to blend effortlessly with the room’s neutral color palette, allowing the focus to remain on the wardrobe’s design rather than overwhelming the space.
For the surrounding angled unit and frame, we selected Robson Oak, a high-quality wood that offered a rich, natural texture that complemented the overall design. The warm tones of the Robson Oak contrasted beautifully with the clean white interior, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere in the room. The oak’s subtle grain added depth and texture to the wardrobe’s design, ensuring it felt warm and inviting while still maintaining a sleek, modern edge.
This thoughtful use of materials ensured that the wardrobe would seamlessly integrate with the client’s existing decor, creating a cohesive look that was both elegant and functional. The wardrobe design wasn’t just about maximizing space—it was about enhancing the overall aesthetic of the room, creating a wardrobe that would feel like a natural, stylish extension of the living space.
