Requirements / The Challenge:

The homeowners in Adare, Co. Limerick, sought a custom wardrobe solution that would not only meet their functional storage needs but also seamlessly complement the existing aesthetic of their bedroom. One of the most significant challenges was to match the wardrobe’s interior and timber surround with the distinctive herringbone timber flooring already installed in the room. The new wardrobe had to integrate harmoniously, ensuring a cohesive and polished appearance without compromising the functionality or durability of the design.

Additionally, the homeowners wanted a wardrobe that offered versatile storage options while maintaining a sleek and minimalist aesthetic. They desired a design that balanced elegance with practicality, prioritizing organized storage for hanging garments, folded clothes, and seasonal items.

Our Solution / Project Description:

To achieve this transformation, we began by conducting a thorough assessment of the room, paying special attention to the herringbone flooring. The goal was to match the wardrobe’s timber surround and interior to the unique tones and patterns of the existing wood, creating a unified look that would elevate the overall design of the space.

Maximizing Functionality and Elegance:
We designed and installed a 2-door sliding wardrobe that extended wall-to-wall, making the most of the available space. The sliding doors were crafted with full-length mirrors, not only adding a luxurious touch but also enhancing the room’s sense of space and light. The mirrors reflected natural and artificial light, creating a brighter, more open atmosphere in the bedroom. The doors were finished with an evoke champagne frame, which added a subtle warmth and elegance to the overall design.

The wardrobe’s interior was tailored to meet the homeowners’ specific storage needs. It featured:

  • Dedicated hanging space: Perfect for shirts, dresses, and suits to ensure wrinkle-free storage.
  • Adjustable shelving: Flexible options for folded clothes, accessories, and frequently used items.
  • Four spacious drawers: Soft-close drawers provided an ideal solution for organizing smaller items, such as socks, undergarments, and seasonal wear.
  • Two top boxes: Cleverly integrated storage compartments at the top of the wardrobe for less frequently used items, such as luggage or out-of-season clothing.

The combination of these features ensured the wardrobe was both functional and visually appealing, providing a clutter-free and organized space for the homeowners.

A Seamless Timber Match:
The wardrobe’s interior was crafted using Glanmire light wood, a carefully chosen material that matched the herringbone timber flooring’s tone and texture. The subtle grain of the wood complemented the existing flooring, achieving the seamless integration the homeowners desired. The surround was similarly designed to echo the flooring, ensuring the wardrobe appeared as a natural extension of the room rather than an added element.

Our skilled craftsmen took great care to match the grain direction, hues, and finishes of the materials to the flooring, showcasing their attention to detail and dedication to creating a flawless final product.

Enhancing Practicality and Aesthetics:
Incorporating full-length mirror sliding doors served a dual purpose: they added a touch of luxury while also making the room feel significantly larger. Mirrors are an excellent choice for small or medium-sized spaces as they create the illusion of depth, and in this case, they elevated the overall aesthetic of the room.

The evoke champagne frame of the doors tied the wardrobe’s design together, introducing a contemporary yet timeless finish. This frame was carefully chosen to complement the light tones of the Glanmire wood and the herringbone flooring, ensuring that the entire wardrobe blended harmoniously with the room’s décor.

Wood Used

To create this bespoke wardrobe, we utilized a combination of high-quality materials:Glanmire light wood: Selected for its soft, natural tones and subtle grain pattern, this material was used for the interior and the surround. Its light finish perfectly matched the herringbone timber flooring in the room, ensuring a cohesive design. Evoke champagne frame: Used for the sliding doors, this frame added a modern and elegant touch to the wardrobe while complementing the overall color palette of the space. The combination of these materials resulted in a wardrobe that was not only functional but also seamlessly integrated into the room’s existing design, offering a polished and harmonious appearance.
